Stewmans is a great waterfront seafood restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the view. We saw it across the street and decided to give it a shot. The building was lavishly decorated with fish and nautical themes.
Stewmans Lobster Pound is the place to go if you want to eat on the water. Its menu focuses primarily on seafood, including a lobster bake with melted butter for dipping and a selection of sides. There are also sandwiches, salads, burgers, and non-seafood options.

Whole Foods & Maine Lobster
As our buddy Chris has explained, the major grocery chain Whole Foods has sided with environmentalist groups wrongly putting blame on lobster for the population.
As Chris mentions, the grocery store has now taken lobster from the Gulf of Maine off the menu of hundreds of its stores nationwide, even though no whale has died from the result of Maine lobster.

If you are a lobster lover, this is a must try. It’s no fancy restaurant. The place is entirely outdoors and you seat yourself at one of their picnic tables after ordering. Be prepare to wait as the line starts to form before the place opens. My party and I arrived approximately 40 minutes before they open and decided drive around since we were super early. We came back about 10 mins before they open and saw a long line! We immediately jumped on line and ended up waiting an hour to order. Despite the long wait to order, food comes out fast. This place serves delicious lobsters at such reasonable prices. Fresh and juicy 1.5lb whole lobster dinner served with mussels and corn on the cob for $22. Or, 6oz lobster roll for $23/$24. Most of the items on the menu were variation of lobster meals . But they have a few selections of other seafood and hotdog/chicken wrap for non-seafood lovers. For dessert, they have blueberry pie with the option to add a scoop of blueberry or maple walnut ice cream. This delish dessert was the perfect finish to an amazing meal.

The Reading Room will be treated to perhaps the very best dining vistas in all of Mt. Desert Island. Perched high upon the bluffs, you will be able to enjoy spectacular views of Bar Harbor, the islands, the sailboats coming and going, and if you are lucky the occasional seal or loon.Service is great, and the food very good. So what’s not to like? Well, the prices are…pricey…for what you get. A 1.25 lb. shelled lobster was little more than a crayfish , and the MaineLobster Pie was short on meat and long on sauce. The blueberry pie at $10 was to me the best thing I had. Flavors are solid, but you are paying a premium for views and service.I suggest you stop by here at least once and enjoy the views of the harbor. However, for a less expensive and to me much more rewarding dining experience be sure to hit up Beal’s Lobster Pound in Southwest Harbor. Maine is known for two things: Lobster, and wild blueberries. Greatly indulge in both…in fact, you know you’ve done Maine right when you can look at lobster and say “I am so sick of succulent, sweet, fresh lobster that if I have one more bite I will heave violently.” Until tomorrow anyway.

Bar Harbor Buoy Tree Supports Maine Lobster Industry
For months now, there have been ongoing legal battles over fishing regulations and debates over Maine lobstering and its effect on the right whale population.
In support of hardworking fishermen, the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce hosted its first Holiday Lobster Buoy Tree Lighting, which was held tonight on Nov. 30 in Harborview Park.
The 10-foot tree is covered in buoys donated by local community members and businesses who purchased $20 buoys, with proceeds going to the Maine Lobstermens Associations . The local community stands behind this project, and even some of the buoys are decorated by kiddos in local elementary schools, according to News Center Maine.

Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound
Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound is located just over the bridge from Mount Desert Island. So if youre headed to Bar Harbor , its a perfect stop.
Plus it feels super traditional. Right on the water, very limited menu, and wood-fired boilers right out front. Thats right you guys. If you feel intrepid, you can watch them boil your lobster in their seawater-filled cookers.
Or if its a little cool , you can grab a seat inside or out on their protected patio. I loved the more rustic feel here.
However dont let that make you think its not popular. When we went, we could barely stand inside the screened door the line was so long. So be prepared to spend some time here if you come during peak hours around lunch or dinner.
What do I order at Trenton Bridge? Well, Ive already said Im a lobster roll kind of girl. So I got a hot lobster roll here. But this is a great place to order a lobster and watch them boil it in one of their traditional cookers out front!
